  • Burma Victory - The Forgotten War (DVD)

The war in Burma was the longest single campaign that Allied forces were engaged in the Second World War. This video, made by the BBC takes a group of 14th Army veterans back to the site of their most importnat victories, including the epic Thermoylae of Kohima. The film was originally recorded on VHS so the opportunity to own a copy on DVD was not to be missed. It is a super encapsulation of the conflict, as most BBC DVDs are. What makes it more poignant is that many of the individuals shown in the film have since passed away and we only have memories of their heroic sacrifice. It will certainly add depth to my collection and when I visit Kohima again I shall be sure to take it with me.

I am very interested in the war in Burma as my father served there but i did not read the discription correctly and thought i was buying a CD but i will get the DVD put onto a CD to begin to enjoy it,and respond later

  • Interesting and informative DVD.

This was very interesting to me if only because my uncle Jack was one of the 2nd Battallion .who fought at Imphal in north Burma. The conditions they fought in along with the terrible monsoon season when everything was soaking and rotting must have been a nightmare and even after the war has finished Jack had an attack of malaria ever 12 months. We all owe a debt of gratitude to those brave lads.
