Better than average. Strong hinges.
Stronger than other brands but NOT for really big heavy weight users. Give the hinges a few drops of heavy oil and they last longer. Also this seat is made from compressed particle wood so it does break under excessive weight. Installation and later removal is pretty easy. It's a well known brand (Bemis) and this is what plumbers use. Anything stronger is gonna cost you big money so this is a pretty good deal. I also noticed this brand uses a paint that comes off if you use rubbing alcohol for cleaning. That's why I gave it only 4 stars. Just be careful with cleaning, don't use abrasives, solvents or cleaners containing alcohol. If you are very heavy you should buy a seat made from solid hard wood. Also the hinges on this seat are very strong. I checked them, they are made from magnetic ... Stronger than other brands but NOT for really big heavy weight users. It has chromed metal hinges, NOT plastic ones that usually break at least that's what I found out with the plastic hinges, it's constructed heavy duty, nice finish. it also includes all the hardware to mount the seat, with break away bolts that make install easy.

Great price for a seat with no plastic!
I was finding at my local big box hardware store, that wood and metal toilet seats are much more expensive than the plastic ones. So I ordered this one. When it came, I installed it and the back half of the seat didn’t come down far enough to sit on the toilet, flush with the front part of the seat. So i added a couple plastic sticky feet to the underside of the hinge and now it works perfectly! In total, I spent less than i would have on a new plastic seat at my local big box home improvement store. Being a renter, that was and is important to me.
