    Slow and not compelling

    Very old fashioned and slow. It didn't ring true at all and Inspector Dalgleish was not connected to any of the modern investigations we see on TV for the last 20 years. Winding down with his team and a bottle of wine to go over the case every night was frankly absurd. The ending was ridiculous and who cared really. So a tired and rather dispiriting read , i felt the writing style had not kept up with changing police procedures and social times.
