Additional information
Cabaret Voltaire includes: Stephen Mallinder (vocals, bass, bongos); Christopher Watson (vocals, tapes); Richard H. Kirk (guitar, strings, clarinet, horns). Recorded in May 1981. All tracks have been digitally remastered. RED MECCA is one of the strongest offerings in the wildly eclectic catalogue of this seminal art-noise ensemble. Crucial to the development of electronic dance music, Cabaret Voltaire experimented with hardcore industrial, avant-garde noise, house, and electronica. The music on 1981's RED MECCA falls somewhere between these categories, borrowing a bit from each. Bookended by warped, unsettling versions of the theme music from the Orson Welles film TOUCH OF EVIL, RED MECCA spins the listener though a sinister soundscape that is mesmerizing, challenging, and, at times, danceable. In Cabaret Voltaire's world, nothing is as it seems. Vocalist/bassist Stephen Mallinder's rants are electronically manipulated to blend into Chris Watson's tape loops, while Richard H. Kirk's wiry synthesizer and guitar lines create an almost underwater effect. The programmed drums are punchy and aggressive, giving the whole an insistent, violent edge. It is oddly fascinating to listen to this synth- and tape loop-based music in the wake of the avalanche of '90s IDM and laptop artists. Although the record sounds somewhat dated in comparison to many IDM albums, RED MECCA is nevertheless an important document in the evolution of electronic music.

Fantastic seller! My item took longer than normal to arrive but that's due to them sending me the wrong dvd. Not to worry though, I contacted them and they arranged for the correct dvd to be sent out. My item has now arrived and the dvd was in excellent condition (brand new as described) and it was very well packaged. I would also like to say that the value for money is excellent. I highly recommend this seller, thank you so much! The issue with the wrong dvd was quickly rectified .

Book arrived safely packaged in perfect order. Item as described, new. Thank you Rarewaves Outlet. Fascinating book, great addition to my collection. Great price. Would recommended this seller. No communication needed with seller, so don't know what to rate with regards to communication (please dont take lack of feedback on this matter as a negative). Thanks again.

This vinyl is really reasonably priced and I love that it is one of the more unusual colours. It arrived well packaged, undamaged and looks as described. It arrived late, due to Royal Mail's Festive rush, but was dispatched by the seller really quickly. When I contacted them to ask where it was, they replied really quickly with a helpful solution. Such good customer service, so strongly recommend. Really happy with my purchase.
