El mecanizado por descarga electrica por hilo (WEDM), esta siendo utilizado fundamentalmente para el corte de piezas de geometria compleja, sin importar la dureza del material. El manual de operacion de la maquina electroerosiva por hilo ONA 250 contiene los parametros de corte para espesores de las piezas desde 10 mm hasta 400 mm en dependencia del diametro y material del hilo. Sin embargo, aun para estos espesores debidamente documentados, encontrar los valores adecuados para dichos parametros requiere de gran experiencia del operario. La presente investigacion persigue el objetivo de determinar los parametros de corte adecuados para este proceso de mecanizado, que garanticen la calidad superficial requerida al cortar piezas para valores de espesores no contemplados en el manual de operacion. Con este fin fue desarrollado un modelo predictivo de Redes Neuronales Artificiales que permite estimar los valores de los parametros de corte correspondientes al espesor de la pieza indicado.
