I just cleaned the old on in ~60 degree celsius water with dishwashing detergent by alternate squeezing/releasing within fist, dry.

However, the Digital Set Top Box that I wanted to use the headphones, despite scanning the channels and sound, was spoilt by the incessant background static, which I could not get rid of, despite repeated Reset and Scan functions. A bit disappointed, as I really wanted the headphones for the STB.
