Peeking into the Queen's Closet
Angela Kelly's insightful commentary reminds me of how the great Hollywood costume designers worked - Edith Head, Irene Sharaff, Jean Louis, Orry-Kelly and Sandy Powell - to name just a few. They created attire for whatever characters were to be portrayed on the screen - and that's what Angela Kelly does for the Queen, whose personal appearance must fulfill the hopes and dreams of the public. This book shows what she wore - and tells you why. The details are fascinating, particularly how the jewels are presented for her choice, matching each outfit. It's like playing 'grown-up' paper dolls!
