Vintage SONY quality Radio still holds it's own in Today's Digital radio world
First off this is not a digital or even a trunk-tracker radio, it's a vintage scanner made at time when trunking was new to scanners but SONY didn't skimp on the quality they put in this radio.
These are late 90's early 2000's radios and were the last and best of the Sony scanner line. First the good, excellent receiver that can still pull in distant NOAA weather stations my new scanners cant touch. runs on 4AA batteries either Alkaline or rechargeable. Mine is on almost 16 hours on Eneloop rechargables before a battery change. it can run on AC power with the correct 6v adapter. clear readable Typical SONY LCD screen The backlight is a little dim for daylight use but is ok in dark settings. wide receive range 25-1300MHZ cell blocked.
The not so good, It's a scanner only no digital no Trunk tracker no same weather alert. this is NOT a modern hear almost everything digital scanner. It's a scanner collector's scanner but if you accept it's limitations can be a good weather monitor radio for a cabin or camper's backup radio. with the wide receive range it has it will pick up almost any non-digital signal within range.
With solid construction and an excellent receiver it's a classic scanner that can still keep an ear on more than the weather for a price the new Digital equipment can't touch. The Wavehawk is the Walkman of the scanner world
