Not simple OOTB, but I wrote up a simple stupid instruction set, link info included.
While setting it up can be a chore, I have written a detailed instruction set on how to make the V2 work with 4 and 8 TB drives. Once up and running, these seem to be trouble free. You'll have to go to the Netgear forums to find the info, though. Here's how to find those instructions, so you, too, can have a 8TB raid 1 NAS. Follow the directions exactly, it's worked for me six times now. ebay won't allow a link, just search for: netgear readynas duo v2 8tb drives the write up is listed by nightfly44, dated may 6 2017. FWIW, I used WD 8tb drives, white label, which are Hitachi Helium drives. The WD red label ones aren't really necessary for raid 1 (but will work anyway). You WILL hear those drive clicking periodically and you'll see the activity light lit up, don't worry, it's not a ... Highly configurable
You will mirror two disks inside this device and use a web interface to configure it. There are many options I do not use, such as a itunes server, or a time machine for apple computers. Mostly I use them to store files from my Sun Microsystems computer, and then I mirror three netgear Duo's for redundancy.
