  • Rather dated

A fairly entertaining crime caper that hasn't stood the test of time all that well. Gabin and Delon do their usual stuff perfectly well, but the over simplified plot leaves credibility on the floor. The direction is very much of the early '60s (or even late '50s) and so leaves the film looking more like a trip down nostalgia's lane than anything comparable to more modern crime capers. It's OK, but certainly not worthy of the overused description of "classic."

  • Interesting, but flawed.

Beautiful Blu-ray presentation of both the American cut, and the international cut. As usual, I go with the international cut. Even so, the film can be a bit too cool for its own good. But all in all, a great Blu-ray presentation for an influential multi-national film.
