The bird house is lovely and we are looking forward to the new tennants soon. Be aware this product does now come with the pole depicted in the pictures and the box. This missing pole is 100% necessary to hold the house together so you will need to go to the hardware store. Take one of floor bases with you to get the right size. PVC work well. One thing I'm not sure of yet is the size of the holes for the birds. The holes are fairly large and predators could get in...either squirrels for the eggs or crows for the babies. The could make this a Hotel of horrors for our future tennants.

The house doesn't fit together really well and the pole you use has to go thru the bird house to provide some stability. The doors that are supposed to snap in place (the ones to open in the event you need to clean it out) do not stay in place. I had to use a few drops of caulk to hold them closed other wise the wind will blow them open and expose the birds. The bird house looks great but that is about all

First off, this is a very big bird house! The reviewers that say it’s difficult to put together must can’t figure out simple task! It took me about 15 minutes to put it together and mine is very sturdy! I didn’t have to use any glue or anything else to hold it together. I used an 8 foot closet hanger pole to mount the bird house on and it worked out perfectly. No need to buy the extra pole from the people that sell this house. A stainless steel closet hanger pole cost me $12.95 from Lowe’s. I put bird seeds in and around the bird house before raising it and by the second day of being up many birds where hanging out in and on the bird house. Even the hummingbirds have stopped on the railings after getting a drink of nectar from their feeder below my Purple Martin Bird House!

Good value. You need to make some changes to make house attractive to martins. 1. convert to six larger compartments. See Chuck's Purple Martin page on internet. He will tell you how. Cut six 3" x 3" squares out of 6 of the inside partitions. Glue six of them inside, blocking six of the outside entrance holes. Do not remove the the partitions after house is built. 2. The fronts will open themselves in the wind. Take 8 small brass screws, and put one in each side of door on the vertical flange at 1/8 from the outside of the side walls. This will hold the doors shut until you need to open them. Do google Chuck's Purple Martin page. You can learn all you need to know at this site. Have fun !

Pro: I makes a very good house & is very attractive. Con: The tabs that engage the doors could be a little higher, or the slots in the doors should be a little longer to allow the door to engage the tabs better.
