    Suitable for existing Amcrest environments.

    If you have existing Amcrest cameras and want an approved NVR to record video, this is a good choice. Once you figure out the directions (not exactly accurate), the device will recognize your Amcrest cameras and you can set up your system. The interface is a little awkward to me , but with a little playing around you can get the hang of it. The fan on the device is noisy. I had this by my TV and had to place it in the stand's cabinet to try and lessen the noise. You might get use to it (or maybe I got a noisy fan). Haven't checked to see if I can use a wireless mouse (the cable length on the provided mouse limits your distance when accessing the NVR).

    Alternative to using a PC with BlueIris

    I've used Blue Iris software with a pc for most of my deployments. This unit is far cheaper than a pc and does almost the same thing. If you have a monitor available to have in front of you, this dvr is wonderful. Setting up the "tour" options to display the camera it triggers is the best and I cannot do that with Blue Iris.
