Having enjoyed The Pursuit of Love on TV, reading the Nancy Mitford's other novels seemed like a good idea. ---- Some parts were, however, a bit hard going. At least the book was a nice clean copy from a familiar source.

  • If you love Downton then this is for you

A book describing life & loves in aristiocratic circles during the early 20th C from the authors own observations of a priviledged upbringing. Unbelievably rich people behaving in a manner I consider decadent & obscene yet is strangely fascinating & bewitching. I regret to say there is a part of me that yearns for the attentions of a ladies maid, dressing for dinner & the 'coming out' glittering parties where beautifully dressed & well mannered young people observe the courtesies of gentle flirting. Eeeh, the Northern genes in me are in conflict - my socialist Dad would be furious but I loved it.
