      Two piece backing plates are much easier to install.

      My 2003 Chevy Avalanche rear axle backing plates were rusted away. The two piece Dorman solution was elegant; much easier than pulling the axle out to replace the backing plate. I used about a dozen tiny nylon zip ties to temporarily compress the emergency brake cable springs in order to re-attach the brake cable to the E-brake lever arm, then just cut them out after the cable was properly seated.
