What role can Europe play in a world of changing power relationships? How will Europe react to the political, economic, social, and security challenges that have been thrust upon it in recent times? How much should Europe and the United States seek to integrate and contain Germany? Other contributors include Karl Otto Pohl, Filipe Gonzalez, Raymond Barre, Frans Andriessen, and Jiri Dienstbier. Supplemented with an introductory chapter by Richard C. Eichenberg and the transcript of the Spaak Conference held in Brussels in October 1991, this book will enrich scholars or indeed anyone seeking a deeper understanding of U.S.-European relations.
