    Preferable to fiberglass for insulating around stovepipes.

    Pros - supposedly quite fire resistant. Very dense and self supporting. Easily worked with scissors. Easily marked with magic marker. Not very compressable, just enough to help working with. Supposedly less irritating and less likely to cause lung cancer etc. No formaldehyde I think. Actually did not cause itching like fiberglass does. You can use the scraps for seed and cutting starting and as a soil amendment. You can wet it to prevent any dust issues while cutting. Cons - came in large cardboard box 'flats' which got bent and so pieces were not intact (but the good parts were large enough for my needs), best to order at least 3 sheets so boxes will reinforce each other. Probably is just as carcinogenic as fiberglass and asbestos, just less studied.
