The new and unimproved Lionel Fairbanks Morse Train-Master
If the person purchasing one of these is expecting the same performance as the original (EL & Virginian ) or newer releases such as the Southern Pacific are going to be greatly disappointed as their pulling power is about equal to a single motor Geep as they were built until 1966. It seems to me that Lionel has downgraded the performance of these engines just as they have with the new GG-1 and Geeps with command control. Whether this reduction in performance is a consequence of command control wiring is something I would appreciate some of your more knowledgeable readers addressing & sending me a fix for this problem.If the person purchasing one of these is expecting the same performance as the original (EL & Virginian ) or newer releases such as the Southern Pacific are going to be greatly disappointed as their pulling power is about equal to a single motor Geep as they were built until 1966. Nice working unit, maybe a little boring looking.
This unit is a good running Diesel made by Lionel in USA. Unit may be a little to realistic for some but it is a prototypical Reading 863. The horn is an Electronic Diesel sound, which sounds good but It would be nice if it had Railsounds. For some reason Lionel did not include this feature, probably to keep costs down. Do not be afraid to pick up this unit, just don't pay top dollar for it.
