Invicta Grand Diver
Been wearing a large Stuhrling with a Seagull movement for the past two years...great watch, still functions well, but had an itch for something new once the gold finish started to get a little worn. Enter the Invicta. This is one of if not THE top of the line from Invicta, however, it is essentially an entry level luxury or high end watch, however you want to put it. The NH35a movement is a lower end Seiko movement, however it is a solid, dependable workhorse and is far beyond the movements available in most of the Chinese watches. That alone sets it out from the pack. Sort of like a Kia with a basic Lexus engine. This ‘Kia’, however, manages to look the part, too. The 18k gold plating is mirror shiny and looks genuine. The mother of pearl dial has a vibrant reflection in light ... Build quality is great...but considering this is the flagship of the company, it should be. It draws comments. The size, as well, makes it hard to ignore. This isn’t the biggest watch I’ve ever seen, but make no mistake, it’s big. I have large wrists, but as you can see in the attached photos, the watch covers them. Again, if outward appearance is important, the watch tries very hard...and for the most part succeeds...in looking much more expensive than it really is. That, unfortunately, is where it goes a bit too far. Again, this is an entry-level luxury or high end watch. The embellishments on the outside of the case and band...i.e., the diver logos and Invicta Grand Diver inscriptions are a bit over the top and seem to be trying to draw recognition to a heritage or brand recognition that doesn’t exist. These names and logos don’t carry much clout in the general populace, and therefore are unnecessary to be displayed so prominently. That being said, it holds up very well to other watches in its price range and even beyond. The materials, and most certainly the movement seem to be very good. It’s a head turner, and works well both casually and professionally. As others have said, it is heavy. This goes along with the size and the solid gold plated steel construction. I like big, heavy watches, because anything smaller looks too small on my large wrists. This is just about right. Those with smaller wrists may find it too big and heavy unless that is the look they are going for. In conclusion, the watch is quite the value for the price. To use the car analogy again, it’s much like a polished Kia with a base Lexus power plant. It does earn its place as a solid contender in the entry-level market for higher end watches. Is it a little overstated for an entry-level watch? Probably, but it does the job well and is a heck of a value at the price point.

Broke after one week
I love my Invicta watches but this model has given me problems. The links will separate and will not stay connected. Yes I can send them back but once the warranty lapses it is just easier to buy a new one rather than pay the repair bill and wait for the watch band to be repaired. I like the looks of the watch so this makes my third watch. I have other Invictas and they ave held up well. Since this last one is still under warranty I will send it in for repair but will be without the watch for months.I love my Invicta watches but this model has given me problems. I have never received more compliments on a watch that I have with this one! I am a watch connoisseur and this one exceeded my expectations. It keeps great time and is not an everyday to wear watch. Like all watches, it is subject to scratching during daily use, so I do not want to destroy this watch I'm making it an everyday watch. I highly recommend these watches and have bought several since.
