Haven't received any cards from seller nor a response to my messages I sent. Not a good experience at all. Avoid buying from this seller who will not communicate or send you what you bought from them. Terrible!

An ordinary sort of story with Kate Winslet...

I so much admire Kate Winslet's acting abilities that I'd watch anything in which she works. I even watched Hideous Kinky, for Pete's sake. This miniseries has some great touches, in particular the flawless scenes, with perfect faith to the time period in which it's set. Didn't spot a single anachronism in it, nor a single cut corner in the settings. Near perfect. The story itself is pretty much predictable, but well-done at every turn. Certainly this presentation is worth the watch, and, to my mind, the price. I liked it quite a lot.

    Dissapointing Remake

I expected this to be an interesting version of an old favorite of mine. It wasn't. I didn't feel much emotional connection or chemistry between any of the characters. The additional hours this feature used to tell the story did not improve the dramatic impact of the story in any way. There were also story-line changes that were not in the original movie- I don't know if those changes were based on the original novel or not. Even with some solid actors (I have always enjoyed both Kate Winslett & Mare Winningham in other features) this just didn't work. Original was much better. Wouldn't watch it again.

  • The movie is about a woman named Mildred Pierce so the title fits.

If you love movies that highlight the thirties and forties then you will enjoy this movie. The old cars and the different way of life. It's the story of a single woman who is raising two kids on her own during the forties. The struggles she goes through.

Although the original was quite good this goes into far more detail. Great DVD condition thank you

  • A different look at Mildred

Different from the Joan Crawford movie, follows the sprawling novel more closely, with the story covering more than a decade.
