    This fixed my problem, but I could have fixed it cheaper.

    My tub spout was only letting part of the water come out of the shower head through the diverter and caused a whistling noise. I replaced the spout with this one and it fixed the problem - didn't have to replace the main shower head. However, I found out later that all I really needed to replace was a 50 cent rubber washer inside the spout (see youtube video). Oh well, live and learn!
