      Exceptional Sound

      This is just a great audiophile level sound card for a reasonable price. Too bad it's made in China, but I suppose it would cost twice as much if it were made in Japan. This is my second ASUS Essence STX; the first one went belly up after many years of service. The clarity of sound and definition are really great. The software is a bit complicated, but offers a lot of adjustments if that is what you like. Lots of bass and power compared to my old Sound Blaster X-Fi, plus an exceptional sound-to-noise ratio.

      Excellent product

      If you are wondering if this is better then the on-board sound card, then this product is probably not for you. You will never be able justify the price. If you don't have audiophile grade headphones or desktop monitors or a good surround system; think twice because those also cost a lot of money. Having said that, it's the best sound card i've had the pleasure of using. Surround is crazy good and you'll hear things you've never heard before in music; even if you've listened to the same music 100s of times. For the money, you can't go wrong. But again, if you don't care about minor details, you'd be much better of spending your money on something else.

      Astouding quality

      This easily sounds better than my Nuprime DAC9 and my Oppo HA1. The timbre of instruments is almost scary. YOu can hear the bow striking and grinding across the srtrings on a violin, the reverbant tubbiness on an acoustic bass, and every nuance of overdrive coming from a distorted strat. Just amazing. No etchiness, and no flubbiness. Just pristine audio quality.

      Easily the Best Audiophile-Grade Soundcard For The Money

      Opamp replacement option is silly (silicon opamps job is to be transparent) and drivers are silly (Download the Uni Drivers) but, if you have a high-priced setup or pair of uber headphones? The trouble is worth it... Further, audio tech is so refined at this point, the fact that this card is 4-years old means next-to-nothing.
