Good --- but leaves you hanging
CINDER is the first book in The Lunar Chronicles series. It's a science fiction version of the Cinderella story, with a dash of STAR WARS and SAILOR MOON. Parts are brilliant --- Cinder, a cyborg, loses not only her shoe, but her entire prosthetic foot while fleeing the ball. Other parts are too predictable --- the Moon Princess, who is the same age as Cinder, is believed to be dead but her body was never found; guess who turns out to be Princess Selene? Worst of all, it ends abruptly just as the story starts getting exciting. I understand the rationale for a cliffhanger ending; this is Book One in a series, and the author wants you to buy the other books (unpublished as of this writing). In the past, series authors knew how to resolve SOME plot elements so that each individual book was ... CINDER is the first book in The Lunar Chronicles series.
