    Great, inexpensive upgrade for slower Intel Core2 Duo CPU

    This CPU, despite carrying the Xeon name, is a direct drop-in for Core2 Duo CPUs on most any motherboard which will support the 2.66GHz clock speed. Works perfectly on my Intel motherboard, though the seller mentioned that machines by HP will reject this CPU based solely on the ID string even if they support the Core2 Duo 2.66 core. Aside from the speed advantage, these Xeon CPUs are known to use less power and consequently produce less heat and run cooler than the equivalent Core2 Duo CPU. Or so I have read, I haven't bothered measuring this. In any event, at about $7-8 US this CPU is a very inexpensive upgrade for the slower Core2 Duo CPUs. I recommend it, if your current Core2 is running at 2.3GHz or slower - a cheap CPU bump.
