When I received this bluray set, I couldn't put it away without finishing the entire series. The series showed the interactions between the Jewish leaders, the Romans, and the new religious group that had just come into being very well. The main characters (who are merely footnotes in the history books and the Bible) were brought to life in a way that felt having been like there at that time. Vincent Regan was brilliant as Pilate and he gave a lot of insight into Roman attitudes about their provinces. It is a shame that the series was canceled.

I seriously wonder if the writers and producers of this have ever read a history book or the bible. There are so many historical and biblical errors that this should have been called a historical fiction. Giving Herrod's wife the name of Calgula's first wife and then hinting that he wanted her. Having Paul and Peter faceoff in an alley somewhere surrounded by the other apostles. It is entertaining, if you can get around the over acting and shouting and the huge loud fan everytime a miracle is about to happen. I would never have someone who didn't know anything about the bible watch this or for that matter the precurser to this, The Bible miniseries. It is very misleading. You can tell that a woman wrote this with all of the women in it talking back to their husbands and sitting in powerful meetings and telling them how to do their jobs and stay in power. While watching this series, I felt like I had stepped back in time to one of the most important periods in human history. They series showed very well the interaction between the Jewish leaders, the Romans, and the "new" religious group that had just come into being. The main characters (who are more footnotes in the history books than headline people themselves) were brought to life in a way that I could appreciate what it would have been like there at that time. Vincent Regan was brilliant as Pilate--and I got a lot of insight into Roman attitudes about "their" provinces. The only thing (and I mean the ONLY thing) I did not like about the series is that it ended so abruptly--like a disk or two was missing. But there weren't, so I can only assume a sequel is in the making.

My wife and I are true born again believers that love the Lord and seek to do his will with our lives. We love the quality of the film production. HOWEVER, the movie has lots of blood and violence above and beyond Christ's crucifixion. It is accurate but was too much for my wife to watch :/
