    The Message Remix Bible

    Absolutely inspiring, interesting, captivating telling of the Holy Bible in an engaging reading. I have read more of the Bible using this reader type narrative approach than I ever read in one sitting with the King James Translation. I use the KJV for in depth study, but "the Message' I use for enjoyable everyday reading and dialog. It is meant to be 'read' and enjoyed as a book. Not meant to replace the Bible or to be a study tool. Read it! Just Read it. Dr. Eugene Peterson, the Pastor who taught the Bible to his congregation shared his many years of his talks and teachings. He did a great service for the Body of Christ. People, get it , read Jeremiah or Isaiah and you will see what I am trying to say. A great reader to cozy up with after you pray.

    I would not recommend this to one that is a young Christian. You miss the meanings of many words as it is not written like the KJV.

    The Message: Remix 2006

    I rated this book as excellent for the writing. I have taken numerous stabs over the years at reading the bible but have had mixed results. I also took two years of bible study through our church using the fairly massive NIV study bible, the Bible knowledge commentary and some specialty study guides. The Message is NOT a replacement for them. However, the Message: Remix is the first Bible I can say I keep out next to my reading chair and enjoy sitting down and reading as a favorite. I read the Remix for the big picture and feel of the material. I can then pick up the NIV/etc. in selected places to get more detail or read a translation that is closer to the original text. You will enjoy Mr. Peterson's work. Unrelated to the writing - the graphic design work has shortcomings. The major ...

    Sound theology/Relevant language

    This is my favorite non-literal version to read. Peterson writes in the contemporary language without compromising on theology (at least not with the most important stuff). I like to read from a literal version (like the NASB) and then read the same chapter in The Message version. Peterson is very gifted at translating the original thought to the contemporary thought - it is easy to see that he has a great grasp on the different languages involved. The only thing that has bothered me so far was his "as above, so below" in the Lord's prayer. I choose to believe that he is ignorant of where that phrase is used.

    beautiful this is a modern day translation of the bible. it is in the kids words. negitivity there is so much negitivity in the world. do we need anymore, you have no idea the struggles that other people face. and how much a kind word can make their day it is much easier to be nice to people than it is to be mean. now think about how easy it would be for you to make someones day. buy someone a coke or do somethin for someone whatever it may be you can help someone, do it. and if you are doing it for the right reason you will b blessed . how hard would it be to pause for a few seconds in traffic to let that person in the turning lane turn even the smallest thing can make someones day or ruin it. once you let one negative thought in the devil takes it and runs with it. but if you cast that ...
