Great external drive for Wii U
We bought this as an external hard drive for our Wii U and it's fantastic. The Wii U had no trouble recognizing it and it's quite fast. Now, we have tons of space for more games.

Works great after much problems getting it going.
Works fine now, but I had lots of trouble getting it started. First off, It wouldn't run at USB 2 speed on the USB 2 ports on my XP computer. Luckley I have a PCI card adding additional USB ports. It works fine on the PCI card. At first I tried to use the WD backup software. It used up most of the resources on my computer most of the time, so had to dump that. Using another backup software (not fulltime backup) and now it is working fine. Very quiet and cool running.Works fine now, but I had lots of trouble getting it started. Great for online backup to disk (See our 'Backup Hints')
This is a very affordable and capable drive made better by Western Digital's (WD) decision to dial-back the previously aggressive software that installed using two (2) lettered drives rather than one. We like the form factor, 1-TB size, and ease of use which has led us to standardize on this drive with clients for backup to disk. So we've acquired over a dozen of them and have had a couple fail in warranty, but WD replaced with few problems. BACKUP HINTS: We always try to implement backup with multiple drives to accommodate inevitable failures and we've found the free 'Cobian' backup to be a great tool to make it all work. We typically direct daily backups to 2 or 3 alternating drives and let Cobian advise us of success or failure in a daily E-mail. . . . ... Large and secure storage.
I just purchased one of these external drives. The set up was quick and easy even to set up automated back ups. The drive is quite and and the transfer speeds are excellent. I would definitely recommend any one to purchase one.

fast, large capacity drive.
This drive is everything that I wanted. It has enough size to hold all of my backups. Having usb3 makes it faster than my older usb2 drive for transferring files.
