Flo Rida, not wasting anytime since "Low" fizzled out from radio, is back again delivering his sophomore album "R.O.O.T.S." "R.O.O.T.S", which stands for Route of Overcoming the Struggle, compiles uptempo hip-hop and electro-pop jams with some slow R&B tunes which will surely get any party or club on their feet on straight to the dance floor. Flo Rida has some solo tracks, but majority of the songs feature special guests, such as Nelly Furtado, Pleasure P, Ne-Yo, Akon, will.i.am., Wyclef Jean, and more. To start off the album, "Finally Here" is one of the slower tracks, but I found myself playing it over a couple times. Immediately after the last few words of "Finally Here," Flo Rida commands of to "come on and jump" which starts the 2nd track, "Jump" which features Nelly Furtado. A very radio friendly uptempo track that I cannot stop listening to. Please make this a single Flo Rida! A music video for this song would be hot! "Gotta Get It (Dancer)" is the 3rd track and it samples Tina Turner's "Private Dancer." Another dance-y track with a beat that flows smoothly with the chorus. At the end of this track there is a little skit about Flo talking about what he wants to do to girls. Interesting....I usually just skip it and move on. Track 4 is the promotional single "Shone" which features Pleasure P. I usually skip this song too as I didn't feel it all that much. However, track 5 is the official 1st single, "Right Round" featuring Kesha. We all have heard this track by now and I still cant shake this song out of my head. The next song is the title track, "R.O.O.T.S." Not so much a track to dance to, but has a nice R&B slow beat to it. This song describes Flo's struggles growing up and how he believed in God to achieve his success. Track 7 is "Be On You" which features Ne-Yo and is another R&B slow jam. I think this could do really well on the urban charts, and with the addition of Ne-Yo, the song has all the smoothness it needs to dominate urban radio. "Mind On My Money" has an OK beat to it...another track I usually skip. "Available" featuring Akon and will.i.am. and "Touch Me" are two more uptempo tracks that I have on replay on iTunes all the time. "Touch Me" samples Benny Benassi's "Satisfaction." Track 11, "Never", doesn't really have a dance feel to it, but has a groovy beat which I enjoy. The official 2nd single, "Sugar" featuring Wynter Gordon is another future smash for Flo Rida. I am very excited for this to hit radio because I know it will do so well. The song samples "Blue (Da Ba Dee)" by Eiffel 65. Last on the album, we have "Rewind" featuring Wyclef Jean, and it another introspective song. The raps by Flo Rida are good, but it's not a song you can dance to, so I rarely listen to it. Overall, the album is a quality, well-put together attempt by the rapper from Carol City, Florida. Like I said, I usually skip the slow songs, but I know a lot of people purchasing this album will respect and admire every song on the album. I cannot stop playing the upbeat tracks on this album, and I don't plan to for the months ahead.Read full review

I recommend this CD to all music lovers. Now this is the REAL thing. Flo Rida is the best. Every song on this CD is good. I will buy more from Flo.
Rockin' tunes from beginning to end. Awesome CD from start to finish. No fillers after the one hit song like with some CD's! Not for children's ears.
Actually this is my first alternative/rap music and Flo Rida in Roots has such a variance of styles thru out the recordings that leaves my breathless and wanting more.
