This is not the definitive DBZ experience if you want that in full screen go with the dragon box's that will be released soon by Funimation or you could go with the orange box's widescreen format which I personally prefer to all other formats of DBZ. With that said this box set is magnificient if you are a fan of the Ocean Group dub which I am. I grew up watching the Ocean Group dub episodes on Cartoon Network and was displeased when they were replaced by Funimations inhouse talent which is really not on par with the Ocean Group dub as far as acting is concerned. The best part about this set is the voice of Vegeta. Vegeta is voiced by Brian Drummond in this version. Brian Drummond makes Vegeta sound like such a cool villain that it is definetly worth the experience if you are a Vegeta fan. Chris Sabat tries too hard to sound like Brian Drummond in the Funimation inhouse dub. Who should buy this box set? This set is mainly just for the die hard fans of the Ocean Group dub for mainly nostalgic purposes of fans who grew up with a different voice cast acting out DBZ. Once again this is NOT the definitive version of DBZ, you are missing some episodes due to this versions butchering of the series. If you want the most authentic experience watch another version in Japanese with subtitles or read the manga. If you wanna hear the best American Vegeta then by all means purchase this version otherwise you would do better to purchase one of the newer releases of the DBZ anime. Hope this was helpful, my first review. Note - This version does NOT contain the Japanese version as well. Only English voice audio. Also some episodes will be missing due to censorship. If you want Japanese audio and all of the missing episodes purchase the orange box sets or the new dragon box's being released.Read full review

This is the set originally released by Pioneer. It, unfortunately, was never released uncut with the original voice actors, but it still gives you a feel for what you saw originally, if you watched the Cartoon Network series first. I wanted to buy it just for the authenticity and rarity that it has now. It picks up with Gohan, Krillin, and Bulma finally making it to the real planet Namek, only to find trouble waiting for them there. Goku recovers and puts himself through agonizing training while on his way to Namek to help Krillin and the others.
Just like the old toonami air from my childhood
