I am a huge fan of Halo CE, Halo 2, and Halo 3. So i want to buy halo wars to have the complete experience with the games. Although the Story line could have been better developed, it was still a fun and challenging campaign. The skirmish and multiplayer experience was very fun and provided me with a good week of entertainment, that i could come back and play again in the future. Although it does not live up to the expectations that i had from the trailer, it did have excellent cinematic videos between campaign missions. I was expecting a massive battle type halo where it would be first person against hundreds of foes at once, but the technology has yet to be developed for that type of game.
This is a great piece to the Halo Universe. The story is well developed and fits well within the universe and Halo time-line. After playing out the game in campaign mode, I wanted a sequel to the game. I bought the game for its campaign and its story line and it was well worth it. The multi-player does not offer many modes, but there is a download pack on Xbox Live to get more modes and maps. Would have loved it if you could play as the flood in multi-player but that is not possible. The game took me about 2-3 days to beat in normal difficulty the first time, and about 4 days in Legendary difficulty my second time around at the campaign. Well enjoyed the gameplay and the story-line. If you love RTS games, you will enjoy this (even if there is no mouse for you to use). The control schemes are simplified and make good use of the absence of the PC mouse. I was never a big fan of RTS, but still enjoyed this game very much due to its nature. PS I got the Limited Edition version, and it comes in one of the coolest game cases I have seen yet. The extras included are worth the few extra dollars.Read full review
If your a Halo fan (who isn't) that has never really gotten into the RTS games, this is the game for you. Dont be worried about the NERDS who keep bashing this game. I find the people who don't like this game fall into 2 categories. Those who thought it would be a FPS (simple mistake) and the NERDS who live in their mom's basement and play Heroscape, Dungeons and Dragons and Risk. Sorry now for the good stuff. The Graphics are AMAZING! I myself never got into the RTS games cause I dont have 10-12 hours a night to devote to video gaming (unlike the Dungeon and Dragons NERDS who keep bashing this game). Controls are easy but thats great if your new to RTS. The game ties in the HALO series perfectly. So if you like HALO and have a life, this is a nice change of pace from the run and gun games out there, and you dont have to devote your life too it. The campaign is short (15 levels that last about a half hour each) but the real fun is the skirmishes! You and up to 2 other buddies and team up and battle 3 other players. The best part is finding who you like to be and building your army the way you like it! If you like Halo you MUST buy this game!!!Read full review
I love this older game style, still fun.

This item is a mediocre must-have for any Halo fan. The game itself is average at best. That is, it doesn't employ what I would consider to be a well-weathered form of RTS gameplay... The cinematic animations are completely incredible, and, if for nothing else, you may consider buying the game just for the extension of the Halo story in a very eye-pleasing display. The extras inside the special edition set are pretty cool. Again, if you enjoy the Halo franchise, you might as well pay the extra money for the special edition set.
The great console RTS. Console + RTS, microsoft once again proves a game genre being ported to the console can be done, and done well (the first genre was... the iconic FPS. Imagine consoles without fps: mario, mario cart, paper mario, and that's it!). Ensemble studio's last production, a fitting finish to such a company, whom produced games such as age of empires, age of mythology, and now Halo Wars under their belt. Shut down by Microsoft (!?), and moving on, they still provide support to Halo Wars to feed the community.
for a game that plays like PC game, its not bad at all. controls are awkard at first, you will get use to it. gameplay is fun, graphics are very good. why i bought it, story before the first HALO. halo series is just good, from the books to the games. just to add to my collection and know the whole story.
Halo Wars is a great success as an RTS on the Xbox 360. The controls take a bit of getting used to, but once you do the gameplay is amazing. The only complaint I have is that you cannot zoom in more, personally i think Halo Wars could be ALOT better if you could zoom all the way to First Person.
I play the campaign over and over again using different difficulty levels and it's fun every time! The online muti-player is something that I really enjoy using as I get to compete with folks from all over the world.

I bought this game as a gift for a family friend. He likes the game because it is a stategy game and he wanted it because it is the start of the Halo trilogy. He feels the graphics are great and enjoys playing it on X-Box Live. His favorite movie scene is when Sgt Forge kills the Arbitor. His dislikes are that once you beat the game there really isn't anything left to do. Of all of the Halo games he enjoys this one the best!
