The greatest hand console to date. The graphics and sounds are on par with a home console. The games are fantastic. huge library with very diverse games for kids and adults. whether you like sports, action, adventure, or puzzles. If you are a commuter this is a must have to kill time, and great for the casual gamer. As of 2016 the NDS is cheep and the games are also cheep. great value. if you live in a small place this is all you would need as far as a gaming console. the only downside is how to hold it and if you are too rough you can break the folding hinge, or damage the screens.

It is still a great system for the price! I can just buy downloadable games for my kids or purchase a ecard on the Nintendo shop but I must say am disappointed that the game cartridge slot is not reading ANY games I put in it. all it says is an error has occurred and shuts down, had I known that. I would not have purchased it. next time I will try a game before I write any review. I was so happy when it arrived that I just powered it on and off to make sure it comes on, I shouldn't have waited a day to actually put a game in it and check that all was working. still overall? for the price? good system....

I would like to start by saying i never write reviews on anything i buy.But here goes. The nintendo ds xl has 2 very bright screens.Nintendo has figured out how to make screens really bright but also not hurt your eyes after long hours of use.The look of the screens are more enjoyable than the smaller ds lite versions and even the dsi's.My word of advice get a new one.The used ones, the buttons usually stick and when playing game's that require alot of button mashing it's really a pain in the butt to have to hit the buttons multiple times cause some little kid forgot to wash his hands after dinner.LOL Only downside to the unit is i wish the buttons were bigger on the dsi xl's.They are the exact same size as the smaller versions.Other than that if you couple the system with a nice flash card. The system gives me many of hours of enjoyment in the palm of my hand!Read full review
It is easier to look at but it's really big, doesn't fit as easily in my purse as the DSi. The installed games are Brainage and something else so dumb I didn't even look at it, so don't get all excited. Photo quality is better. For some reason it doesn't work with my DSi sd card. They don't make it clear in any of the DSi info that you will have to buy an sd card (about $8 from good ebay sellers) to get your photos off and music on. I'm glad I bought it because I do like the bigger screen size. Great experience again with Dyscern. They are a great seller to deal with! I totally recommend them for any electronic purchases. Totally risk free.
I got this for myself to enjoy when I have to ride out of town and I'm not π driving it comes in handy as well as when I am driving and have to wait for someone to go to a Appointment and or just having to wait a long period of time to be seen like DMV or traffic court. So this makes doing many things that seem to take to long more tolerable.

It is a good handhedl gaming system. comapare to its successor, it has a bigger screen, which makes gaming for a period more comfortable. The downside is resolution still the same, 256*192 for both screens. Compare to other handheld gadgets like psp ipod, the presentation this screen can offer is really limited. Also, it's a little heavily when you held it on one hand, since many games need to use the stylus, which means most of the time you got to hold it on hand,at least for me, after holding this for hours by one hand, my left hand really feel painful. Anyway, if you are nintendo fan, it is a very good platform for u to experience the famous nintendo franchise games.
These thing ROCK! as a teaching aide, as a gaming device, as a camera on the quick. most other hand held electronic teaching aides cost as much or MORE and do only one thing TEACH ONE THING. Plug in READER RABBIT, America's Test Kitchen, Mario Bro's, these all fit into this thing Instantly. WOW!. but with limited Game Boy reverse compatible acceptance (read below). However!!!! (#1) Don't buy the older Game Boy Games expecting them to work. ONLY the ADVANCED Game Boy devices will work. Nor will the memory expansion card made for the DS-LITE. We had to buy an older game boy to play the handful of games I bought thinking these would fit the DSi-XL. NOT!! However!!!! (#2) Let me say firstly that nintendo customer support wifi group is a superior support outfit. They are the most advanced, helpful customer support I have EVER encountered. BUT!! After two+ hours of detailed help & personal assistance, the tech had to conclude that IF anybody out there is using the APPLE, G4, Original AIRPORT WIFI DEVICE, you cannot use the wireless internet surfing feature for the DSi-XL. I have failed to get a connection at my local McDonalds (free wifi) also. Not sure why that is. So I'd say there's some bugs in the wireless portion of this device. BUT the core features are worth owning this item.Read full review
Game has large screens with easy touch interface, Good graphics with good sound. Platform has large number of games to choose from which is another good reason to get this handheld console. Games range from retro to latest, which is a big plus over other consoles. Spare parts are still readily available, aswell as numerous accessories. Great console for collection.

I purchased this for my 5 year old's birthday. Initially I thought a DS Lite would do but after getting one, I realized that the screens were too small and would cause strain on his eyes. He already has somewhat poor vision. I bought this at a great price. I balked at the idea of paying $200+ for a game system for a child his age so the discount softened the blow. The system itself is great. The bronze color is very nice. The speakers are pretty good also. My son blasts the volume while playing games and I can hear it in the next room. It feels sturdy in your hand, is a reasonably comfortable size despite some reviews stating that its' too large. The screens are a perfect size, being just a tad larger than a PSP's screen. The added options/games (dual cameras, chat, internet) make this an item that can and will grow with my child. I purchased a warranty from Square Trade but a accidental damage warranty isn't available for this item. I was also able to buy a DSTT card for around $60 with 40 games, providing him near endless hours of play and giving me some extra cash in my pocket. And did I mention these are so awesome that adults would like them too? I think Nintendo is marketing these toward adults anyway with the colors bronze and wine. A minus is that there aren't many accessories for this unit yet. Walmart carries a bundle for around $20 with a case, extra stylus', a couple game cases, earbuds and a car charger. It was a decent priced accessory bundle but the case is way too exact. Somewhat difficult to insert and no extra room for games, or anything. Overall, I would buy one of these again. Especially at the price I paid, just over $150! Thanks eBay!Read full review
If you are not a small child, then the DSi XL's larger size will be an improvement. The resolution is still the same, just stretched a little to fit a larger screen, but I can't tell any difference in sharpness/etc. Everything about it I found to be great. Only bad thing is that since it has a multi-point snap-in-place lid, (instead of just opening to a single position) the lid is a bit loose, and will flop if you were to shake the console.
