    I bought this book as it gives a biographical view of an aboriginal woman's life history in a place called Cherbourg which is the next town from where I live. It is rare to find a book of this calibre, and one that is written by an indigenous female author. The content expresses heart felt honesty, truth, and compassion about the author, her family, and community. It provides insight to real life traditional family values that could not be removed by the Australian government in a time when politics controlled the Aboriginal way of life. This account talks about the impact upon family when they were forced to live in the aboriginal reserve of Cherbourg. The book is written as if the author was telling her story face to face.
