Good production with a foolish mistake
Old story with a new touch. The up to date tale about getting ahead at any cost by crushing the little guy only to be caught yourself is this story. Sandra and Ryan are perfect together. The dance around the fire by Betty White was the only horrible mistaken moment. It took a light hearted plot and added nonsense to the story. Why a director allowed that scene, is puzzling. Sandra Bullock is one of my favorite actress. In this movie she is a horrible boss. Big shot publisher. Her co workers are terrified of her. She can just walk into a room and everyone runs. She also makes her assistant Ryans life miserable for fun. After being told she is being deported, she decides to force him to marry her so she can continue her big career in New York. Ryan has no choice bc she is blackmailing him with her high power in the company. He caves and gets to start treating her, the way she treated him for years. Her having to take it bc it’s the only choice for her to keep her career and life in NY. Once the deport people get her story they start investigating the engagement with that he takes her home to his very rich family where they proceed to tell everyone they’re engaged. Betty white will have u laughing like crazy as she is Ryan’s grandmother with secret motives. After the two are there for a few days Sandra learns his hardship with his dad and why he won’t except the riches from his family that are to be inherited being an only child. She gets to see him in his element. The family is very opened arms to her for she was adopted hints the mean act. After a few days of all kinds of crazy with his family. Sandra starts to fall and see Ryan in a different light. The softer sides of both personalities come out as they’re opposites, but opposites attract. Finally Revealing she knew he was talented, but held him back bc he was the only person that could deal with her. She learns his past loves, life, family, and the sweet moments of family life with him she had forgotten. After the family puts them on spot to get married In the home town. They go full force to hold it together. Having doubts back and fourth. They catch each other comforting the other. Once the entire wedding is planned. She agrees and walks down the isle, but the truth comes out. Sandra tells him she can’t ruin his life. She leaves. Once gone he realizes he does love her ( while Betty acts out a heart attack to get him on a plane bc she knew all along they were meant to be) so he can go after Sandra before they deport her. I can’t tell u the ending but you will fall in love with the warmth of this movie. You will laugh and cry. The fun just continues
Thought this was going to be a light-hearted comedy and to an extent it was. But then they had to get all emotional and that made it even better.
