Lotta bang for the buck
Like all cameras, the GH5 has it's flaws, but overall it's an excellent camera - especially at it's price. I use it almost exclusively for video. The picture quality is excellent and well above it's predesesor (the GH4). Strengths: really good built-in image stabilization that becomes even better with Panasonic lenses that also have stabilization, 4k at 60fps, decent in low-light when coupled with an f/2.8 or better lens, long battery life, no video time limit, dual card slots, solid. Weaknesses: not so great auto focus (Panasonic has improved this but it's still not the greatest - be sure to set sensitivity to low), image stabilization eats batteries faster than the GH4, but they still last fairly long (aprox. 120-150 minutes). I don't recommend using auto exposure or Intelligent Auto ... Like all cameras, the GH5 has it's flaws, but overall it's an excellent camera - especially at it's price. Lumix GH5
Despite it's midrange pixel count, the Lumix GH5, a pro camera, is exactly what I was looking for and probably great for 90% of pro and high end amateurs. This is my 4th Lumix mirrorless camera, and It is amazing how much tech and improvements are in each new model. Many, I don't use, but it's good to know that Panasonic is on the cutting edge of technology. Also, with video specs that rival many standalone video cameras, this is the best of both worlds. With the latest 4/3rds sensor, both videos and stills are sharp and accurate. In camera stabilization, along with a number of lenses that have built in stabilization, you can hand hold low light shots like never before. Also many lenses have legendary Leica glass. I'm extremely happy with the decision to fork over nearly 2 grand. If you ... My first Lumix (G2) was plastic and is still working great but the photo and video quality had not kept up with the times. In contrast, the GH5 is a totally upscale product. Current new and used prices make the camera an excellent camera for anyone moving up but there's a catch. For the occasional, point and shoot, or shooter that doesn't want to read manuals the camera can be a "handfull". The GH5 is a machine engineered to record video and stills; as such it is not entirely user-friendly. If you will be using it every day or so great but if not, you may want to stick with a camera with simple controls and Program functions that take the guesswork out of your picture-taking. I certainly wouldn't suggest you use the camera on any project without first working with it and checking the ... At the price, and with the features, my thought is you can't go wrong with the Panasonic As for the MFT vs. full-frame argument, the photo business has changed. Look beyond the brand name, sensor size, and decide what you'll be doing with the images or video FIRST - this should be the defining factor of what lens(s), body, and additional equipment you need (in that order). The GH5 will do more than the average shooter demands. I've been using Nikon equipment since the 70s and I wasn't sure switching to a Panasonic, known for TVs and VCRs was a good idea. For me, it was a very good idea.

The video quality and 60fps 4K is almost unmatched. Dual IBIS, weatherproofing, and dual card slots make this camera an all around winner. Oh, and the images are great too. Will you get the same creamy bokeh as you will with a full-frame? In some cases yes. Still Micro 4/3rd lens king
So far the GH5 is better than expected. Good clean crisp image, awesome features and format choices, such as: no record limit, dual card slots, full size HDMI out. and 20 Megapixel sensor. One area that I'm disappointed in, is that it doesn't have a built in flash like the GH4, but the aforementioned features, help to make up for this. Overall, despite the GH4 and GH5 coming out several years ago, they are still incredible still photography and filmmaking tools. So far the GH5 is better than expected.
