Product Information

Sega Rally Championship features four tracks set in mountain, desert, forest and lakeside environments. Included are four rally vehicles each with distinctive handling and precise modeling to maneuver through the varied terrains and driving conditions.<br><br>Drivers can experience off-road racing in three modes of play: arcade, time attack, and two-player battle. Arcade mode pits players against 14 computer opponents in either one or three lap contests. In time attack drivers are challenged to race against the clock through three laps. The free run option allows you to race an infinite amount of laps. Players also have the ability to turn on or off a ghost car. <br><br>In two-player mode you race against a friend via split-screen contests consisting of three laps, five laps, or time lag. During time lag the first car to reach the checkpoint sets a countdown in motion, challenging the second car to reach the checkpoint before time expires.

    The best arcade racing game of the 1990s in a fantastic home port

    It's very simple, like the title states. Sega Rally is a masterpiece of a racer, with very good graphics for the time and perfectly translated gameplay. The game itself is a bit short on content but does have good replayability. You have two cars available with a third (much faster, very loose cornering) becoming available once you complete the arcade mode, and three tracks with a hidden fourth (Lakeside) becoming available if you finish 1st overall.

    Another virtually perfect arcade port

    It obviously blows the Saturn port of Daytona USA out of the water. Like Virtua Fighter 2, Sega Rally Championship actually manages to bring home what made the arcade game so amazing: its gameplay, polygonal graphics, and it also builds on its soundtrack as well. I mean, it's not 60fps like VF2, but with everything else in its proper place, I wouldn't even call it a gripe.
