Great detail with room for improvement
After doing a ton of research for a build I came to the conclusion that this was the only .50 cal on the market with the correct Mk93 mount and T & E assembly. To start off I want to comment on Live-Resin's resin itself. It is very durable and works very similar to high-quality styrene. It can flex quite a bit without breaking. That said, this and earlier purchases have had broken parts upon opening the box. One half of the lower spade grip that is attached to the weapon body was missing. I found the piece in the bag so I was able to reattach it. One handle of the upper spade grip assembly which is attached to one of the sprues was bent at an angle and broke when I was was trying to straighten it. These two things are easily repairable and didn't affect my opinion. The break down, or ... Some detail is simplified, but once built you have a beautiful miniature of the weapon. Over all, I give this kit a 4 out of 5. Please read the details below if you are interested in why I was only able to give the kit this score. The Weapon: The weapon itself is near perfect. The detail is very fine and nothing on the body sides or top is missing. The only detail that was missing is the lack of a shell ejection port on the bottom of the weapon. The front sight was cast solid and was easily drilled out. Due to the way the body was attached to it's own sprue the muzzle also had to be drilled out. This is an issue with all Live-Resin weapons. Once the repairs were made, the weapon assembled with ease. Even with these minor issues, the weapon itself rates a 5 out of 5. The Mount: At first glance, the mount assembly is perfectly cast with some very fine detail. The lower half of the mount and the gun shield are beautiful castings not missing any detail. The T & E is a very finely detailed casting missing no detail. The Mk93 mount itself looks the part, but is very simplified. It will be good enough detail for most people who are looking for this type of mount. From the rendering on the box you can see that the entire Mk93 mount is a solid casting. The main part of the mount is cast solid. The real mount is two plates attached by welded cross pieces. The webs on the side of the mount are cast solid as well. I made significant modifications to the mount before assembly so I cannot attest to its ease of assembly. It is because of this simplified detail that I give the mount a 3 out of 5.
