Well-built battery charger
I've charged both full-size 12V car batteries and small 12V instrument lead-acid batteries successfully. It gets a bit warm when operating so make sure you don't cover it up with anything. Make sure you follow the instructions EXACTLY when you are connecting it to the battery or it gets confused and the displays read incorrectly and I think it may also not sense when the battery is fully charged. You need to connect the leads to the battery in the right order before plugging the charger into the mains. Does the job
For some reason the power light doesn't come on but as soon as it's plugged in the charging light comes on. Another light comes on when it's fully charged, so shouldn't overcharge. Flick a switch and you can tell how many volts the battery is, or how many amps are being pumped into it. I prefer to use low charge, which puts around 2 amps charge into it, but gets lower as it reaches full charge. My battery was flat but this took about 6-7 hours to reach full charge. I imagine on high charge it would have been a lot quicker.. if needed in an emergency though not recommended to use high charge to often as could eventually damage the battery. Nice storage for both power lead and crocodile clip connectors. Have used 3 times so far since I've had it and so far I'm very happy with it. Ring Chargers are rubbish
I have owned three Ring Chargers now, two of them being this model and the other being a more expensive smart charger. All of them have been completely useless. One was a faulty unit in that it never did anything at all but the other two functioned to some degree although they actually actively assist in the destruction of healthy batteries. They tell you a flat battery is fully charged one day but the next decide that maybe it isn't and charge for a while, all be it on a low setting. On other days I've had the smart charger actually charge a flat battery but then whilst left unnatended decide to run a discharge and have ended up with a battery at 11.8volts by which time the the charger it decides it can't do anything with it anymore.
