      Lightweight with great features.

These would be the best pruners I have used. The blade is precision ground and cuts perfectly. They fit the hand very well as they are light and easy to use. The unlock mechanism is good and a feature I really like. These are my go to pruners now.

      Locking lever not aligned

I do a lot of flower and vegetable gardening--got these to deadhead my flowers and prune small shrubs. Unfortunately the locking lever that allows the pruners to open or close is not aligned correctly (or the tab was manufactured a tad too long) so it requires immense pressure to move the lever over to open the pruners. Once open, they work fine, but it's enough of a hassle to fight to get them open/closed, that I usually grab my other pruners. So overall decent pruners, but for the price and the ARS reputation, I expected better quality.

    • Great Pruners

This pruner is a great size for my medium men's hand. It it very well made, sharp and feels good in my hand. I use pruners every day during the growing season. I prune and then cut the material into two inch lengths to use as mulch and compost. I know, buy a shredder. I have them and prefer to do this. I am not recommending it. I just need good long lasting pruners that stay sharp and are easy on my hand. This is the best I have found yet.

    • A BETTER CLEAN CUT

Been using Felco f13 pruners for 16 years, I tried the ARS HP-VS8Z and I really like them so mach. No as pricey as the f13, light weight, well made and excellent for my medium size hands. My boos and coworker tried them and they are switching to it too; my only concern is, the ability to find parts for it, but I think it will take a long time until i need them since they are a Japanese quality made product.

    • Excellent pruners!

There pruners do their job amazingly well. Lightweight, easy to use, good spring, comfortable grip, and the blades never splay. The're fairly small and certainly usable by people with smaller hands. They are still hand pruners though, not loppers, so they're limited to about 5/8" branches on a straight cut and about 1" with a circular cut (slowly spin the pruners around the branch as you're squeezing.) They don't cut by magic; you do have to squeeze pretty hard with bigger branches, but at the same time, the blades are very sharp and slice right through even when you might expect trouble. I've used them quite a bit and so far no nicks in the blade at all. Like any pruners, the blades can get gummed up with sap - to the point that the spring might not always be strong enough to open ...
