Although the instructions are written from a rebuilder's skillset, the upper & lower valve bodies DO NOT have to be separated. All mods in the kit can be done with just removing a couple of end plates. If your trans has completely failed, then yes, completely tear it apart & clean it all. Mine was just conductor plate/solenoids so no contamination. Shifts GREAT, super fast shipping, seller A++++++
