This computer was reconditioned by ICSWarren, supplied with new battery and power supply and loaded with Windows 10, Office 10, various other "aps". It works perfectly, is lightweight compared with my previous laptop, a Compaq Presario, and, although having had Dell laptop computers before, albeit quite a while ago I am less than a fan of them in general, seems well designed. One of the rubber feet on the bottom was replaced with a piece of rubber of the same height but different design. One corner of the machine is slightly lifted. I wrote to ICSWarren, who had previously assisted me with another problem, and he responded promptly, assuring me that it would not compromise the performance or longevity of the machine and reiterating that the machine had been purchased used for reconditioning. It has been performing adequately and, with 4 gigs of RAM is significantly faster and more stable than my previous laptops, essential to me as I use graphics programs and Audacity. So far, about a month into its use, I am happy with it.Read full review

I purchased this Dell Latitude D630 in April 2018. It was sold as refurbished. The DVD drive quit working about 5 months after I bought the computer. I replaced it with a USB driven external DVD drive. Its battery was not guaranteed to hold a charge. That had to be replaced a year later. Easy enough to do myself. A few months ago I noticed the computer kept slowing down. If there was a DVD in the drive the audio would keep playing, but the video would freeze. I also noticed the computer felt hot. The CPU fan and heat sync had stopped working. This is an expensive repair for a professional repair technician. I have a few laptops, all still work; but, either the operating system is obsolete, or the core system is obsolete. I've never had to replace any parts. This one was a waste of money!Read full review

Arrived in good packaging. Battery lasted maybe 1 hour, so I ordered a new battery. Can use for maybe 2 hours before needing a recharge. Screen and keyboard works great. Fits my needs for looking up technical information. I am very happy I made this purchase of this Dell laptop. The WiFi connection is very easy. I use the AC adapter most times, and get a brighter screen.

The E6400 is a good starter or second laptop, even with today's standards. It was designed and built during the transition from Windows Vista to Windows 7. If you have a Dell Windows 7 installation disk, Windows 7 will usually install on this PC regardless of weather or not the COA is for Vista or 7, just make sure you keep the original disk. From there, it is a breeze to get the free upgrade to Windows 10, and you won't regret it so long as you have at least 3gb of memory installed. The downside is that it still utilizes the older DDR2 memory, so the maximum memory you can get at a reasonable price will be limited to 4gb realistically. Pair up 4gb DDR2 with a 500GB Sata hard drive, and you've got one heck of a system. When you see how well it handles the new Windows 10, just imagine how well it would run Linux!Read full review

I really enjoy this Dell laptop. There are some disadvantages, such as being heavy and short battery life, but all-in-all, it's a very nice machine. The fresh install of Windows 7 Professional is good. However, I did have to go to the Dell site and let their tool determine what drivers needed to be updated. Even so, that was a pretty simple process. While the hard drive storage is small, it works well for me, since I store my files in the cloud. Finally, I was pleasantly surprised at the backlit keyboard. For my use, this is a very good deal.

I had one of thies laptops at one of my former jobs and do to that I have today one at home for private use too but the one I have at home have an Nvidia card insted of Intel card for grapichs and I will admit that compared to other brands I have used and experinced so far that is I will admit that the E series from Dell are what the Doc. ordered I mean it's to a sertan level but it's rubost unlike the cheaper more to "private" use laptops that you are more or less close to getting paied money to use the only "bad" thing I will say about the E6400 is that it uses DDR 2 ram insted of DDR3 and that's why I have only given it 4 stars not that I really wanted to give 4 stars since it's a great laptop and it can more or less run pretty much everything that you through at it but I will admit that if you are going to get this model through max ram in it since you will kick yourself afterwards if you don't and I know DDR2 ram are more expencive then DDR3 but still but like I saied over all I love this machine and I will also give that adwice that you through in an SSD disk that supports the max of the machine true to some it might be overkill but at the same time if you think about it it will be more withstanding to bumps and a few beatings and the overall tough life of beeing carryed around from forexample from airport to airport and things like that if you travel alot but not just that it whon't be slowed down on the hdd front witch sometimes are the weakest part of the computer and some might say that you should't spend money on an old computer and at some point they are right but at the same time here I'm refurring to old windows xp home 512mb DDR1 Ram 40gb hdd tied to the motherboard kind a computers that type is not something you should spend money on BUT for this type of computer the only thing I can say is buy it it's a great computer and you can through in a wwan card if you have the need for internet via 3g and yeah yeah yeah I know 4G have come out and all that but sometimes it's a matter of beeing online and not beeing online and what would you rather have a slower 3G or not connection at all think about that but I will also come with that idear that if you are looking for cordless hours spend some money on an extened battery it will make the difference between power cord and no power cord :-) so yeah I can only adwice that you go out and get your hands on one of the computers within the E series and in this case the E6400Read full review
the laptop is real good. I was pleased that it came so fast in the mail and everything was wrapped so nicely so as to not get damaged. I plugged it in and off I went. Very pleased, the only problem is that the battery life isn't very long.

This is a great older laptop to run Linux on. I have run Mate, and currently have Peppermint7 on it. I added a backlit keyboard and it runs just as fast as my toshiba satellite. For the money, Ill probably never buy a new laptop again.

The price was wonderful. It arrived when they said it would. It is in great condition. My 16 year old grandson is ecstatic with it. The only concern we found with the computer was that the mouse was erratic. Sometimes you can control it. It was almost impossible to control during start up. He had to use the tab and enter keys instead of the mouse. Once that was done, the mouse worked fine. Is there a site on Dell where he could get a guide for the computer; something that would tell him what to expect if certain things happened or how to trouble shoot?
