Read a few sites and most recomended these for the rear doors in my 06 F-150. Once installed they worked flawlessly and sounded excellent. They rounded out my system perfectly. They "dongle" crossover is a little strange but mounting was easy just use some velcro with peal and stick adhesive available at any hardware store. Im glad I choose these do to the final sound. Im no expert so I have to go by what I hear and they beat stock hands down. Installation only took about 45 min. This was due to my door panels had to be removed and had to cut the adapter off the old speaker so I could avoid cutt into my stock harness. Without these steps maybe 30 min.
Garbage. I ordered 2 pairs of these from Sonic Electronix and out of 4 speakers, they managed to get me ONE that was problem free. But even that one had to be modified out of proactive preparation. I'll explain..... That separate yet attached crossover dangling from the speaker is not at all a good idea. Nor was the technique that Infinity used to solder these flimsy contraptions to the speaker terminal. Upon receipt of these speakers from SE, one speaker in each box had at least one wire broken off the solder/terminal block of the speaker. Enter the dangling weight dilemma. This crossover swinging around while you drive down the road guarantees more wires to break off the aforementioned flimsy tab, and this is exactly what happened to me. So, after having to finishing the soldering job the fine people at Infinity missed, I got them in the doors of my truck. Then I drove down the road and one speaker cut out followed by a second. Good thing I was just recently practiced on removing all the door and trim panels because the non-working speakers had to come out. I see the dangling crossover problem, resolder it and the other connections on this one speaker and zip tie the !@#% out of it to an internal door brace and pray this is the last time I see the inside of my door. Ditto for the other three speakers. What should have been a two hour install job took a day and a half.Read full review
I have a set of these in the front door locations on an '07 Mustang and they are excellent replacements for the factory coax's that came with the car. I've used Infinity speakers for several vehicles and have not had any problems with them. Finding a place to stash the crossover dongle and trimming the extra mounting tabs are all that's required for install in the 05-09 Mustang door, contrary to Crutchfield saying they don't fit. They fit just fine.
Excellent response from a coax. I do not regret not getting the component version. The -3db switch is a nice feature that I use to effectively cut the highs in half. As these are a discontinued model, they can be had at an awesome deal. I have four of these (amplified) in my F150, along with a small, 8" subwoofer. Using a audio analyzer and a pink noise source, I was able to equalize my system to an impressively flat frequency response. The stars of the system are definitely the Kappas.
I put the speakers in my car and, man, what a difference they made. The highs and lows that they bring are crystal clear. Couldn't ask for better speakers. They blow away the stock speakers with ease. I would recomend these speakers to anyone that wants great sound from their stereo.
