    Another way to view security cameras.

    I needed to hook my security system's DVR to my home network but it's a cheap one and the software that came with it is pretty bad. It does everything else ok, just not networking. So I set up this Slingbox and hooked it up. It works great and I can access it from any computer on my network.

    My AV Is Great...Could an HD be better???

    I've been using my A.V. for 3 years with a Sprint HTC Touch (Vogue) and an Asus Netbook. Since my purchase H.D. has taken off and so I purchased a 32" Sony for my bedroom. There is no doubt that HD is much more vivid. Here's some things to consider, however. 1)On a small screen such as my 10" Asus the benefits of HD will be hard or impossible to appreciate. On a tiny screen such as my 2.8" PPC any difference is imperceptible. 2)HD is data intensive. I typically "Sling" when I'm anchored or moored on my boat, via my ppc (tethering) and connection speeds are anywhere from 200kbs to 1.2mbs. The results are generally very good (the Slingbox buffers the signal). HD would be much more challenging asto choppiness and dropouts. Some marinas offer ...

    Good overall. If you plan to use it on a mobile or Mac buy a newer model.

    Nice piece of equipment overall. If you just want to watch TV on a PC (laptop, or desktop) while away from home or dare I say at work than this model will serve you well. I have it hooked up to my HD cable box and picture quality is good. If you want to use it on your mobile phone you will need to purchase a newer model. This version is not Mac friendly. If you have a Mac buy a newer model. Pros: - Easy installation - Visually appealing - Remote control feature Cons: - Wifi not supported (same for all Slingbox models) - AV model not supported for Mac use. - AV model not supported for mobile use.

    Sling box

    Can not use because I can not finish installation. Sling box has discontinued manufacturing and does not provide any help .Software no longer available. It's a good paper weight.
