Well, for those of you who don't know about P.D.Q. Bach, he is the long forgotten son of J.S. Bach........not! Seriously, I have been waiting years for this DVD to hit the stands. I have seen Peter Schickele in concert on 2 different occasions and have come away "sore" from laughter. As a music educator, I am still gaining additional "puns" and "musical satire" from his works as I play it over and over. I have also read his book on P.D.Q. Bach which puts all of this in perspective. I also have all of his albums. The only downside to all of this is that I need MORE of it. Keep going Mr. Schickele, write and produce more music and DVD's for us "P.D.Q. Bach 'junkies'"
Petr Schickele not only hosts this varied program, but personally plays some of PDQ's mythical instruments. Schickele admits to an early addiction to performances of the Spike Jones Orchestra, then is joined by members of this local orchestra in enacting some of the classical themes. I wish I'd had a ticket to see this performance live, but the recording quaity was excellent.
