Historically accurate with amazing writing, directing, acting and editing. At the end you wonder why it didn't win the Best Picture Oscar it was so deservingly nominated for. The title refers to both the math needed to be discovered to calculate entry, re-entry and recovery as well as the women responsible for it! A movie that is an historically accurate portrayal of everything that had to be overcome to get our first astronauts into space and then around the earth and back. and how instrumental African American women were in achieving it and all the groundbreaking obstacles they had to overcome. Truly an inspirational must see movie for all ages, genders and colors!

This is a movie Black Women can use for years in so many settings. I will use it with young black girls that think they cannot reach their goals. They cannot rise above situations not under their control--to inspire them--no matter where their beginnings are. I could actually use up the entire 4000 letters about this movie, but I will not. Black Women need to know the sky is not the limit--

This movie I highly recommend to buy it is a great value with plenty of history to it. This tells the story of 3 brilliant women who have smart as well as great minds to help NASA out with the space program and to figure out all the technical aspects to improve the space program and one woman in particular is the one who really knows the figures to get everything right for the 1 astronaut who needs help to make sure that he gets back to earth okay. So this movie is really great and I highly recommend for you to buy it. You should like it a lot.

As a black woman, I was so proud to know that this movie was made to finally honor black women involved with the space program. It was not just the 3 intelligent black women in the forefront but also the other women involved to make this possible. I think that this should be introduced in our school system. I also lived in a black community where Mr.Curbeam went to outer space on the space shuttle. It's nice to see that we have been acknowledged. But I still feel proud of all of the races that have bee involved in the advancement of the space program.

This movie is loosely based on the truth yet regardless, it is one of the best movies I've seen...thus I purchased the DVD so I could watch it repeatedly. It does indeed portray the state of the country during the riots which still is shocking to see even though it is a movie. The character develop was marvelous, both Caucasian and African-American... following the characters through the challenges they experience. One of my favorite scence is when Katherine is running in the rain after using the "colored" restroom which is half a mile away, and soaked comes into a room of desks seating white males and is called out by her boss for not being present when he needs her. She lets loose, yelling at her boss, the men who won't use a coffee pot that she touches, and walks out. It is enjoyable seeing actor Jim Parsons in a serious role beyond The Big Bang Series. We get to see John Glenn's flight to the moon and his recovery in the waters of the Bahamas. All in all, the acting is superb, the musical score terrific, and an interesting take on NASA's role in our lives.Read full review
