I have a VHS copy of this movie and I have been trying to replace all my VHS with DVD so I bought this. The reason why I am giving this such a low review is because so much dialogue was edited from the original, nearly 15 minutes worth, for no real good reason. I had to convert my VHS copy to a blank DVD just to have the full movie and sell the butchered DVD because it was irritating watching scenes that were supposed to be 2-3 minutes long get cut down to 15-20 seconds. Weak.

I was a kid when this came out. I would sometimes try to dial 976-EVIL, but I always got the 'cannot be placed without area code' message and never got through. This movie is directed by Robert Englund, whom you all know as Freddy Krueger. It's quite amateurish, which is to be expected. Boy finds ad for 'horrorscope'. Boy calls number. Boys gets turned into hellish fiend via phone and exacts his revenge on those who have slighted him. The movie is kind of torn between being humorous (especially in the first half) and attempting to be a serious horror film (something it never actually attains). There are good scenes of violence, and for me, the entire concept sums up the general idea of 1980's horror.
Fantastic movie with Stephen Geoffreys who played Evil Ed in the Fright Night movie. Don't miss it!!!!!

Keeping in mind that this movie is almost 20 years old (1988) it still mangages some good horror effects. Directed by Robert Englund the story line is basically about a nerd that recieves evil powers from a phone in horoscope service, and seeks revenge on all those that tormented him. Overall a good movie and worthy of having for any true horror collector.
