SuperS is about the world being attacked (again) by a band of circus named the Dead Moon who infiltrated the earth during a full sun eclipse. Also, a white Pegasus suddenly appears in front of Usagi cs (Serena in the US version), seemingly asking for their help. It turns out that the Dead Moon is hunting for this Pegasus who's believed to dwell in people's dreams. But why? and whose dream is it? This season would have ranked high in my favorite Sailor Moon seasons list if not for two things: 1. the first half is too repetitive. the first 20+ episodes feature the Amazon trio as the bad guys charged with seeking Pegasus, and this story arc is too repetitive and slow moving. Not much is really happening except the sailor girls gaining new powers from Pegasus (as if THAT counts as a spoiler...) This arc seems to focus on Chibiusa's growing relationship with Pegasus, but it takes too long and tend to drag abit. and 2. the story is too predictable. If you've been following the series from the start you knew that the story offer has offered some interesting twists and turns here and there. and if you love the surprises in the previous S season, you might be disappointed in this one. and there's also one other personal reason why this season feels a bit downer: it centers ON Chibiusa. I always hated her and always will. fortunately though, she's not as disgusting as she was in the R season and she's matured a bit, but she does get the spotlight in this one, which means she will have more screen time. But aside from all of those above, though. This season is really great. The art is bright and colorful. It features one of the best arch villain in the series, and those episodes where she appeared are just terrific, atmospheric and dark. And the final episode is simply one of the best episodes in the whole series. EVER. Furthermore, some are really funny. The humor has grown more mature and less slapstick. and those episodes where the story moves just have a great feel about them. It might be repetitive, but this one have its fair share of powerful moments. If you love the series, you can't go wrong with this one. Just remember: you'll be seeing Chibiusa alot.Read full review
This is my favorite season of Sailor Moon after Sailor Moon S. The plot is mainly focused on ChibiUsa ("Rini") - Super Sailor ChibiMoon ("Super Sailor Mini Moon) and her relationship with the winged horse named Pegasus. I know it is a little weird for a six year old to be in love with a horse, but it is a very good story none the less and great for Sailor Moon fans or those who just love fantasy genres or anime. It also features some of the better attack moves of the Sailor Senshi before the large disappointment of the last season, Sailor Stars. I bought this DVD set because I was getting rid of my old VHS tapes; and also because American versions of anime generally edit out a lot of key material that effects the plot, making it too "sugary" and "jazzer-sized".
To make things short and simple: - The story focuses on Chibiusa. - The storyline does not progress very far in this series... many episodes where you just fight the monster + small story; it is more focused on the bright colours, new powers and well designed bosses. - Though saying the above it makes the waiting to watch the next series (sailor moon stars) very enjoyable. What gives this series it's 4 stars is the bright colours/bosses/powers (more focused on this)! Definately worth buying... IF you are a fan of course!
I’m glad was able to get this box set as the old dub of Sailor Moon is getting hard to find. The package came in a timely manner. Well done!
