I am amazed with how good this thing sounds! My only complaint with the product is that the super thin wire concerns me. It's cool that the wire is lightweight and discreet, but I'd rather have a wire that I have more confidence in not breaking. I come from the pro audio world and would love to see some additional features with this product: I want an optional pro audio connection for the microphone instead of the 8th inch plug and I wish the irig acoustic software came in the form of a zero latency plug-in for professional recording software. I occasionally have clients who sing and play acoustic guitar at the same time, and this little microphone would be super helpful in that application.

I'll say this straight up right now, this works on a variety of different guitars. I've tested this on a steel string guitar, classical guitar, requinto, Portuguese and Brazilian cavaquinho, vihuela, and even a guitarron. As long as it has strings and a sound hole, your in business and this little mic does it all very well. It will pretty much catch anything that's nylon string or steel strings, doesn't matter much because I even has a custom stringed guitar with a crazy reentrant tuning and it still worked. Something to keep in mind. I read on a review that someone couldn't get it to stick to their guitar because their soundboard was too thick. This may be an issue for some guitars. It did have trouble latching onto the guitarron's soundboard as well as my vihuela's, but the mic is somewhat flexable, so keep that in mind too. It is possible to stretch the mic in such a way so that it can rest on the sound hole. Seems to me the material is rubbery, so it does allow the stretching. I bought this just to see how well it can pick up a guitarron to be honest. It does it pretty well, although I'll say it doesn't pick up the lowest A very well. Seems to me it had trouble picking up anything below 55hz, so keep that in mind. Some notes seemed to clip a bit when picking them up also. It does pick up the treble sound of the guitarron as well, but if you have say an equalizer or a low pass filter, you may be able to get the "true" guitarron bass sound, as that's what I had to do. It pretty much gets any kind of instrument. It will pick up steel stringed instruments as well as nylon stringed instruments. Remember, it's a mic! I only bought this for the mic, I did not use any of the software.Read full review
