Works ... but dryer door needs help to stay closed
This switch is designed for multiple uses - washers & dryers. I have a Sears dryer with the door on the front of the dryer and is hinged on the bottom. The switch works. However, the switch spring is very stiff. The switch spring is strong enough to keep the dryer door from closing completely. Thus, the switch is not closed and the dryer will not start or the door will 'open' slightly during operation and the dryer will stop mid-cycle. I have to figure a way to keep the dryer door completely closed to satisfy the switch. So far, I have tried duct tape, a clothespin (wedged in the door), and a magnet. I also tried bending the switch actuator slightly. Nothing is working 100% yet. This switch is designed for multiple uses - washers & dryers. Flexible, good quality product.
I broke the lever arm off of the metal bracket in my original switch assembly. Everything was included to adapt this assembly to my washer, but that would have required use of supplied spade connectors to replace my existing ones because the switch connectors were slightly different. So I just used the metal bracket in this kit on my existing switch. I also put a small piece of heat shrink tubing over the tip of the bracket lever to mimic the plastic covering on the original. This is not necessary, but was easy to do and might prevent some scratching. Everything works great. I used this switch on a 30 year old Kenmore dryer, I used the black adapter, Just unscrewed the old switch and screwed this one in. The old dryer is still going.
