Right out the box it seemed good to go. Looked brand new but after figuring it. Which is not hard to do, I was trying to set the wifi up so I can connect to my phone with it. But the wifi was being buggy and won't working correctly. But almost a month later it decided to work correctly. I did nothing new or do any updates it just worked. But it's a great camera and for the price of $235 I couldn't really complain that it wasnt correctly at frist. But now I have to say it was a great purchase and would buy another

Got the camera and was so excited! Took it on a trip; it recorded a 5 minute video fine then I went to take a multi burst shot and bam, frozen. Tried another multi burst, frozen. Later on I took it down a river float, I wanted to record the whole float so i could time lapse it. The camera did not want to participate; it shut off every 4 minutes, froze a couple times, came up with an SD error once...it was a hassle. Brought the camera home and had an IT guy try and help me, we manually reset the camera and hoped for the best. First time turning it on after the manual reset it froze! It's a joke as of this point. The one good thing I can say is that it is indeed covered by GoPros manufacture warranty...on the downside, it takes almost 18 days to get it shipped to GoPro for review! I have two trips coming up and cannot wait for that so I must deal with this piece of junk for the next while... :( Spend the extra $$ and get a new one.Read full review

The 4 doesn't have a view screen included. That costs extra. The battery life is joke. It's pretty expensive, as well. No one ever tells you that in addition to the camera itself, you still have to shell out big bucks if you want your vids to be as clear and smooth and vibrant as the vids you've seen about the Go Pro, Back in the day we had a camcorder that had an image stabilization algorithm. I dont know. Its just very expensive

I've worked my way from a Mobius to a Xiaomi Yi to two GoPro Hero 3+ Silvers, and now finally a GoPro Hero 4 Black. These poor things haven't lived easy lives strapped to my FPV racing drone... The GoPros have always been the most resilient, even when strapped directly to the front of the drone without a case. Maybe I've just been lucky. But... Video quality of the Hero 4 Black is superb, far out-classing the Hero 3+ Silver. The higher frame rates really let me slow down the video to highlight things without it getting choppy. Audio quality is about the same as previous action cameras, but it's tough for me to gauge with all the wind noise (80mph+). It's light which I love. But the best thing? It just works. I don't need to use a computer or phone to configure it (Mobius and Xiaomi Yi).

The WiFi works. The image looks great. They did say it would show normal signs of use but it had a pretty big dent in the back of the case. I personally think that’s a little above normal use but since I use it on racing drones it’s not a huge deal to me. The only reason I mention this is that it could affect the integrity of the case underwater, but I won’t be using it underwater so it does what I need it to do.
