I lost the first version of this product so I bought a new one. The new version have three brightness levels instead of two. And also a pupil size chart. I would love to see a rubbery version.

This is sold as a medical use pen light, however even at the lowest setting of 4 lumens, it is way to bright to preform a pupillary response. Patients complain of eye strain, pain, and flashes of light after use. I do not feel this is appropriate for medical use.

If you're considering the expensive Welch Allyn penlight with Halogen bulbs, don't bother! With an excellent LED bulb and color temperature, you won't have to worry about a short-lived halogen bulb that heats up! It's not exactly lightweight but feels extremely sturdy for it, and its proud button placement is extremely comfortable. It's easy to use, and a wonderful tool. I wouldn't look back at a Halogen light.

This is one of the few lights that I have found that have a pupil gauge on it, as well as multiple brightness es so you can use it as a pretty decent flashlight.

This penlight turned out to be the best I’ve ever used, in terms of its brightness and in a clinical Nursing situation. That’s where my application for this light was. It was great for performing neurological assessments and looking at skin, and not too bright for people’s eyes. Unfortunately, I no longer have this light or the other one I bought in 10/2018, because the pocket clip failed on both of them. It happened very gradually and the clip kept getting bent outwards to where it no longer stayed in my uniform pants side pocket. Then, one day, it was gone, and never seen again. There is no way to remove the clip and bend it downward again. This is the only weak part of this light, but it cost me 2 of them. This can become very expensive, replacing penlights every 3-6 months over time. If the pocket clip were fixed, it would be definitely 5 stars. Read full review
