An Easy Fix to an Alternator Whine when using Car Radio Pre-Amp Outputs

If you have an alternator that whines (ground loop noise) AND you have pre-amp outputs (RCA) to a power amplifier, then these will get rid of the noise. No extra and crazy grounding is needed. Buy two of these, one for the front speaker pair and one for the rear speaker pair. Nothing is needed for the sub-woofer if you have a sub-woofer. They are designed to be plugged in to the RCA (pre-amp) outputs for the rear and front speakers at the radio. If you have enough room behind your radio they fit nicely tucked behind or under the radio. If you have no room (like me) you can plug them in to the power amplifier (located in my trunk) at the RCA inputs for front and rear speakers BUT YOU WILL NEED to buy 4 gender changers (male to female) and 4 short male-male cables (two footers or 3 ...

Pac-SN1 noise elimination filter - Review

This isolation transformer is very good at eliminating background "Hummmm" between an external amp and my record player turntable. The down side of using it is: A) The line in connection to my amplifier loses VOLUME because of this isolation transformer, ie: it is very LOSSY. A good isolation transformer would not have so much loss in signal volume. B) It drastically cuts the amount of BASS in the audio signal coming from the OUTPUT side. I have tried reversing the input and output, but it does not solve the loss of BASS in the signal. Otherwise, it does exactly what it is supposed to do - eliminate background hum, ground loops and random, spurious noise in your amp caused by audio cables picking up RF and electrical noises in your house. If you have a good preamp/equalizer between ...

  • Works better than I expected

Since this product is advertised for solving noise in automobiles, I wasn't sure it would work for me, in a Church. I needed to connect audio from a DVD player and also a Satellite Receiver into unbalanced line level inputs on an amplifier. Directly connecting them with RCA cables was inducing a hum in the amplifier. I installed the SN-1, and immediately the noise went away. I have since used another one of these with a similar result. At another Church, RCA ports had been installed at the back of the building. A shielded coax cable was used to run the audio nearly 200 feet to the amplifier, and there was a definite hum being input, with nothing plugged into the RCA ports. The SN1 did not solve that problem, although surprisingly to me, it did reduce the hum a bit. It is not designed to ...

  • Removed engine hum

I bought this because after I put an after market double din head unit in my 05 Tahoe the rear seating DVD player had a hum to it when driving. I installed this isolater and the hum is now completey gone. The only downside to it is that it significantly reduced the bass. But like I said I only hooked it up to the rear DVD RCAs. So the front dvd, radio, and Bluetooth etc still have bass. All in all it's worth it because now when I'm driving down the interstate, my baby girl can watch her movies without the engine hum driving me crazy.

  • Made audio worse....

Purchased filter to correct hum on audio when the car is running. Cleared slightly until I turned on the ac. Now I have a louder noise coming from my speakers. I tried grounding both filters, made the sound worse. Noise lessened when the filters aren’t near any metal. If I don’t run the ac, no hum, but now the bass in the audio is completely gone. In the end I’ll live with the audio hum. Filters may work in some applications, but didn’t help with my setup.
